The mission of the Department of Classical & Modern Languages and Literatures is to make students of Mississippi State University internationally literate. We strive to educate our students so they may acquire the knowledge and skills to interact successfully in an increasingly intercultural world. It is our goal to establish a solid foundation upon which our students can build a career and thrive in any field they might pursue. East meets West and Classical languages converge with Modern languages giving our students the experience that will allow them to embrace diversity while maintaining a solid sense of their own historical identity.
