MSU Students Gain New Mandarin Study Abroad Opportunity in Taiwan
The Taiwan Huayu BEST (Bilingual Exchanges of Selected Talent) Program, supported by Taiwan’s Ministry of Education, offers full scholarships for U.S. students to study Mandarin and engage in academic and cultural exchanges at partner universities. Through the new partnership with Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU) in Taiwan, MSU students now have the chance to fully immerse themselves in a Mandarin-speaking environment, strengthen their language skills, and explore Taiwanese culture and society.
“This program is about more than just learning Mandarin,” said Dr. Steffi Hung, the faculty member who established the program. “It gives students the chance to immerse themselves in a new culture, build meaningful connections, and see the world from a different perspective.”
Students who are awarded the Huayu BEST scholarship will receive a monthly stipend that covers tuition, room, and meals in Taiwan. This makes the program a financially accessible opportunity for MSU students interested in language study and international engagement.
